R.I.P MJ

Im not one to rant and rave about someone's dance moves simply because i dont know enough about dancing to appreciate it like some people do... but when i watch michael jackson dance, all i have to say is damn! that guy had some moves. Everything from his patened moonwalk...to his stall on his toes...to his spins and flow and rhythm. The guy was one of a kind. I remember when i was working for a catering company a couple years ago and after we hosted a big event we were washing the dishes, we were exhausted after spending all day on our feet running around and it was about 2 :30 in the morning. Somebody turned on the radio and "bad" came on and everyone just started dancing and singing and got so into it. Ever since then i realized why he was so big and why people loved him so much. I also remember when i was on my mission their was a family we taught and this little boy named Joseph had a beat up copy of thriller on video and was so excited to show it to us because he thought since we were also from America that we knew MJ. Of course we weren't able to watch it but everytime we went back to that house joseph always had thriller playing in his room and would try and copy his moves and sing like MJ. He really was an icon in every nook and cranny of this world. Hopefully people will remember the good about him and not the bad. Im sure he is in a better place now and doesnt feel so "lonely" as he reportedly seemed to feel throughout his life. RIP Michael.

Thriller...probably the coolest music video ever.

Indies.

Indies: individuals that feel strongly that they are indeed “individuals,” especially among their fellow peers which they feel are all of the same mindset, background, and share the same motives and dress in similar fashion. However, in all actuality these “individuals” are not entirely individuals due to the fact they also migrate towards other “individuals” resulting in a common trend found in the Provo, Utah area. Realistically these individuals a.k.a “indies” are no more intricate nor fashionable nor different than those who they would consider “cliché or typical.” They can often can be seen wearing skinny stone washed jeans, a t-shirt from the D.I. with a picture of a giant bald eagle that says “Alaska” in italicized writing underneath, and usually wear weathered hi top converse all stars, thick black framed Steve Urkle glasses and have a child molester mustache or a grungy face of scruff making a point to say that they don’t shave and they usually have a head of hair that screams “ I haven’t been washed in days simply because I don’t care!” but really it was tasseled with at least 10 minutes worth of effort before they stepped outside. And in the end there are just as many (if NOT MORE!) of these “individuals” as their are “bros, jocks, skaters, bikers, and worst of all..Ed Hardy worshippers and the list goes on and on but you get the point.

I'm addicted.

So i did it. I finally humbled myself and have succumbed to the beverage that I for so long told myself i would never EVER fall for. and boy have I fallen hard. Diet Coke isnt just any ordinary drink in the Baker household. As if boxes upon boxes stacked on top of each in our pantry wasnt enough for us, My mom HAS to have her Diet Coke (size large) from Jimmy Deans each morning because of the special ice. I often would wake up to the sound of her cracking open a can in the morning during my high school years. We always tease her and her addiction and tell her she would be better off sticking a needle in her arm with a constant flow of diet coke. Yes she drinks it that much and yes it's that bad. Her addiction sickened me for the longest time. My father isnt a very selfish man but when it comes to buying normal, non diet, caffeinated soda it becomes quiet a struggle for the man. With the constant lack of normal soda in our home i finally decided to try Diet Coke... wait let me rephrase that. I didnt just decide to try diet coke, i decided to try and ENJOY Diet Coke. I realized its probably better than a "diet, cherry chocolate, vanilla cream Dr. Pepper BLAST" that my dad for some reason seems to think is good. and now i am a victim of this wicked drink. I now understand the craze and can appreciate a good Diet Coke. However, i am very picky about my Diet Cokes. I can't drink it out of the can nor can i drink it out of any regular cup. It has to be in a big glass with lots of ice and lots of lime! Yes please and thankyou!

Lately...

So i haven't really updated in a while. Its been a fun filled, busy summer so far. I've been hard at work and hard at play. I have been working construction, which i actually have come to really enjoy. I have been learning lots of useful things that i know will be a benefit for years to come. The pay is good, hours are flexible and being on your feet all day makes time fly. Much more so than other jobs that i have had. But the work is TOUGH, it sure makes me grateful for my education because i certainly dont think im cut out to do that the rest of my life. We also had a big family reunion just the other week for my grandparents 50th anniversary. It was fun having every down here and seeing cousins i havent even met before. Being one of the oldest cousins really makes me feel out of the loop! Their is nothing better than being with all of your family and their is never a dull moment in the Baker family! It was a very fun/chaotic/spiritual weekend and a big thanks goes to everyone who worked so hard on it! We had the privelage of honoring my Grandpa Greg who died at a young age of 45 and it was a very special weekend for our family. We were really able to feel his presence and had a wonderful time reminiscing and telling stories about my Grandfather who i was never able to meet. Though i was never able to meet him i know he is an amazing man and was and still is a true a legend among those who had the privelage of knowing him.

Onto a lighter note.. just yesterday we went to disneyland to celebrate my girlfriend (stephanie) grandmas bday and her sisters graduations. I swear if i could live anywhere in the world it would be on main street at disneyland. It really is the happiest place on earth...we just cant get enough. I also think i gained 20 lbs from the 15,000 calories i had yesterday. Bowl of lucky charms in the morning before i left, a robeks smoothie on the way, a corndog, bag of chips, churro, pretzel and cheese, bean and cheese burrito, hot fudge sundae, ice cream sandwich, kettle corn, cotton candy, and 5 diet cokes...thanks alot disneyland for ruining my summer body.

House finished!

Finally! Our house is finished. For those of you who didnt already know my parents decided to pretty much redo the whole exterior of our house. My mom has been wanting to do this for quiet some time now and with the economy being the way it is, they figured now is the time since prices are so cheap. They did everything from redoing the stucco, the roof line, our front door, completley redid our doorway, our front lawn, our drive way, our backyard, the bbq, knocked out the brick wall that bordered our lawn, we added a sport court, we brought up the back hill and extended the grass, we added flower beds, a garden is now in the works and i had the honors of builiding a tree house! and i must say its pretty damn cool. Its got a rope swing, 2 regular swings, a telescope, a table, waterballoon launcher, and even a zip line. Yes a zip line. Anyways if you check out my parents blog at http://kirknstacy.blogspot.com/ you can see the house from before at its beginning stages of being worked on. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
