Rehashing the roots of the best sport out there...

Bob hurley speaks out and tells us why, even during the worst recession we have seen in decades, surfing will prosper.

On average, surfboards are only $200 to $400 higher at retail than they were thirty years ago when you could rent a two-bedroom duplex a stone's throw from First Peak in Pleasure Point for $225 a month!

So one might ask Why did I get into this? That's easy (and admittedly a bit cheesy). It was the love, not just of surfing, but the way of life. It was the smell of wax, the wearing of flip-flops, the kid fixing dings around the back and the scent of resin wafting inside. It was sitting down to read the new magazine right when the mailman (who everyone knew by name) dropped it off. It was the customers who came back in after their session to say how great their new pintail worked. It was free of stress, free of confines, just plain free...period. "We have the dream," Hurley contends. "The dream is to live a surfing lifestyle and hang around with beautiful people and do neat things. Everybody wants to be part of the dream, and we want to invite everybody in."
